žéttr, a. tight, watertight, opp. to 'lekr' (ķ skinnbrókum žéttum).
žeygi, conj. yet not, = žó eigi; ž. Gušrśn grįta mįtti, yet G. could not weep; žeygi ... žótt, not ... althouah.
žeyr (gen. žeys, pl. žeyir), m. thaw.
žeysa (-ta, tr), v. (1) to spirt out, gush forth (žeysti E. upp ór sér spżju mikla); (2) to make rush on (žį žeysti hann lķš sitt at žeim fram); ž reišina, to ride at a gallop; with dat. (ž. śt śvķgum her ór borginni); absol., žeir žeystu žį sem haršast at žeim, they rushed violently on them; (3) refl., žeysast, to dash, rush on (žį žeystist eptir allr mśgrinn).

žišurr (gen. žišurs, pl. žišrar), m. wood-grouse, capercailye.
žiggja (žigg; žį, žįgum; žeginn), v. (1) to receive, accept of; ž. e-t af e-m, at e-m, to receive (get)from one, at one's hands; ž. e-t at gjöf, to receive as a present; ž. e-n undan, to get one relieved, set free (ef žér vilit žessa menn undan ž.); (2) absol., to take lodging, receive hospitality for a night (žigg žś hér, Siguršr!); (3) to accept (žóttist jarl žį vita, at Óšinn mundi žegit hafa blótit).

žinga (aš), v. (1) to hold a meeting, (konungar tóku žar veizlur ok žingušu viš bœndr); (2) to consult, discuss (ekki veit ek, hvat žeir žinga); žeir žinguišu um, hvat at skyldi gora, they discussed what was to be done.
žinga-menn, m. pl. the housecarles or bodyguard of King Canute and his successors in England.

žinga-prestr, m. vicar of a parish.

žingfarar-kaup, n. a fee for travelling to the parliament.

-fœrr, a. able to go to a public assembly; eiga -fœrt = eiga -gengt;
-fór, f. = -ferš;
-gengt, a. n., in the phrase, eiga -gengt, to have free admission to the 'žing';
-hį. (pl. -hįr), f. a žing-district or community (konungr fór ķ allar -hįr ok kristnaši žarallan lżš);
-heimr, m. the assembly at a 'žing';
-helgr, f. (1) the consecrated precincts or boundary of a public assembly; (2) the ceremony of hallowing an assembly;
-heyjandi, m. a 'žing-performer', any person
