Northvegr Foundation - About Us

About the Northvegr Foundation

The Northvegr Foundation is a private educational foundation. The Northvegr Foundation's goals center on bringing knowledge and understanding of northern European pre-Christian history, culture and spiritual values. These goals are achieved in a number of ways, including the maintaining of a web site, the production and distribution of published materials in print and digital formats..

Presently, Northvegr Foundation does not accept membership. However, we do accept volunteer work. A site such as this depends heavily on volunteer work in order to present the vast amount of material that we present. If you have skills that you think would be helpful, such as programming, web coding, PDF construction, language translation, etc, then we can use your help. All material is presented on the site free of charge to any user and your help makes it possible for us to do that.

Northvegr Foundation's specific area of interest encompasses the span of time corresponding to the northern European Iron Age until the early Medieval Age, or from about the 8th century BCE to the 12th century CE. This area includes Scandinavia, Iceland, Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Russia and other nearby countries.

Some of the projects that the Northvegr Foundation will be undertaking in the near future include, but are not limited to:

1. Translation of period texts into English, as well as more modern scholarly works into English.

2. The Northern Scholarship Project for transcribing and posting public domain texts pertaining to our stated area of emphasis as well as being the main group of people and pool of resources from which our Translation and Publication divisions shall be derived.

3. A Publication Division to bring more low-cost, quality publications of the sagas, eddas and other primary source texts, as well as secondary source texts and Northvegr's own books, pamphlets, and other educational materials.

4. The Northvegr Community Project will bring together various resources, which any group can use, in order to begin forming their own Heithinn oriented community. Advice on organization and state church incorporation, as well as moral support, is among the resources that will be provided by this project.

These are just a few of the goals that the Northvegr Foundation is working toward now and on into the future. We are always glad to receive help from volunteers who are interested in assisting us reach these and other goals. All you need to help is an interest in Northern European pre-Christian history, culture and/or spiritual values. What has made Northvegr Foundation into what it is today are the generous contributions of individuals just like yourself. If you are interested in helping us meet our goals, please feel free to contact us any time at:
