Fair Válaskjálf, roofed with silver,
Where Odin sits to see for ever.
Valhalla's halls are ringing with cheer,
Einherjar and Valkyries are feasting here.
Asgard's realm and Odin's helm
Will fall at Ragnarok, to be overwhelmed.

Tyr the grand
Lost his hand
When he taught Fenris how to fetch.

Fenris-Wolf
closed his tooth
when the chain called Laeding would not stretch.

One-handed, Tyr
Would shed no tear -
He paid the price the others thought dear.

At Ragnarok
Loki and Thokk
will fight to the death for the treasure of Brokk.

Frigg, Odin's wife,
said, "Run for your life!
The future holds nothing
but war and strife!"

Frigg, Odin's spouse,
said, "Flee from your stead!
I've seen the future
and you are dead!"

Fire in the south -
From Muspell's mouth,
The sons of Muspell ride!
They come as a horde,
Bringing fire and sword,
An overwhelming tide.

Odin inspires
the battle-frenzy fires
and brings wisdom
from the dead.

Thor strikes thunder -
is it any wonder
when the whetstone
throbs in his head!

Freyr brings peace,
and fruitful increase,
and fair children
for the hearth.

Thor stands for law,
Odin for awe,
Freyr and Freyja
for the things of worth.

The sons of Muspell
Come in the night
To spread ruin
And cause affright.

The monsters, bound,
Struggle in their fetters;
The Monsters are free!
And fall upon their betters.

Water, conjoined with salt and fire,
Raises the roof-beam all the higher.
Volcano burst and earthquake boom,
Ymir's form made into living room.

The sons of Bor,
Odin, Vili and Ve
Created the world,
Like - one, two, three!

Odin's companions,
Hoenir and Lodur
Made the world
From water and soda!

Fimbulvetr, terrible winter,
Honor will die and goodness splinter.
The ship that's made from dead men's nails
Will screech across when Loki hails.
The worlds all shudder, heroism quails,
When water thrives and fire prevails.
The grey wolf is watching the dwellings of the gods,
And now they face the most terrible odds.

Poor Bergelmir
was drowned in a flood
when Ymir, slain,
drowned in his own blood.

You may think this
story biblical:
"I'll drink to that!"
says Bergelmir's umbilical.

Ymir funked
in his steamer trunk
while the sons of Bor
hunted out the great big lunk.

Odin grumped
as the others stumped:
'C'mon, Ymir!
Show me some spunk!"

Ymir/yama, Ymir/yama
two into one, like l's in a llama;
tvistra, 'separate', give the world a home,
the sons of Bor have gone on to roam.

Ymir bending
never ending
male and female
always spending

getting and lending
matters pending
Ymir's skull
the sky suspending.

Ymir on ice
is very nice;
the creation myth
needs little spice.

Ice lay on ice,
the world beguiled;
down in the glaciers
Ymir smiled.

Jotnar-kith
and Jotnar-kin,
Ymir made the shape
the world is in.

Audhumla, the cosmic cow
gave Ymir all her milk;
she licked the sons of Bor from ice:
they slew Ymir and all his ilk.

Audhumla lived before the son,
she was cosmic and unbegun:
she melted from the ice in Ginnungagap
she was cosmic in the beginning
the mother of all alive and sinning
of all life-forms she is the mother,
she is the first, there is no other.
"There is no udder?" said Audhumla.
"You are the mudder - a cow too far!"
