ná-mágr, m. a near relative by marriage (ţeir eru tveir námágar).
nám-dúkr, m. a kind of cloth.
nám-girni, f. eagerness to learn;
-gjarn, a. eager to learn.
nám-kyrtill, m. a kirtle made of námdúkr (kona í svörtum -kyrtli).
ná-munda, prep. with dat. near to (vera, liggja, vita -munda e-u); vera í -munda, to be close by;
-mćgđ, f. near affinity.
nánd, f. neighborhood, nearness, proximity; koma í n. (or í nándir) e-u, to come near to.
nár (gen. nás, pl. náir, acc. nái, dat. nám), m. corpse, dead man; fölr sem n., pale as death; nýtr manngi nás, a corpse is good for nought; bjarga nám, to lend the last service to the dead; verđa at ná, verđa nár, to become a corpse.

návistar- or návistu-mađr, m. companion, associate (tryggvir -menn).
ne, a negative particle (poet.) with a verb, (1) not; út ţú ne kemr, thou comest not out; sól ţat ne vissi, hvar hún sali átti, the sun knew not, etc; (2) ne einn, not one; lifa ţeir ne einir ţriggja tega manna, not one of those thirty men is left; ne einu sinni, not once; preceded by a negation, any = neinn vórum vér ekki mjök viđ búnir ne einum úfriđi).
