Jim Johnston's Norsery Rhymes
Three Blind Aes Three blind Aes, see how they fight! They all ran after the jotun's wife Who cut off their heads with a runic blight, Did you ever see such a star in the night As three blind Aes? Baa Baa Red Goat Baa, baa, red goat, Have you any milk? Yes, Thor, yes, Thor, Three pails like silk; One for the watcher And one for the Hall And one for the little troll Who plays with the ball! Thor and Sif Thor and Sif went up the cliff To find a grand new cavern Thor went huff for a little puff And Sif fetched up in the tavern. Up Thor got, and home did trot, As fast as he could lollop, To wise old Hod, who healed his bod With vinegar and codswallop. Three Little Jotuns Three little jotuns they lost their buttons And they began to cry, Oh, Mutti dear, we sadly fear That we have lost our buttons. What! Lost your buttons, you naughty jotuns! Then you shall have no fun! Fee-fie, fee-fie, fee-fie. No, you shall have no fun. The three little jotuns they found their buttons, And they began to cry, Oh, Mutti dear, see here, see here, For we have found our buttons. Close up your buttons, you silly jotuns, And you shall have some fun. Fie, fee, fie, fee, fie, fee, Oh, let us have some fun. The three little jotuns closed up their buttons, And soon began some fun; Oh, Mutti dear, we greatly fear That we have split our buttons. What! Split your buttons, you naughty jotuns! Then they began to sigh. Fee-fie, fee-fie, fee-fie. Then they began to sigh. The three little jotuns they sealed their buttons, And wore them on their knee; Oh, Mutti dear, do you not hear That we have sealed our buttons? What! Sealed your buttons, then you're good jotuns, But I hear the Valkyrie. Fie, fee, fie-fee, fie, fee, We hear the Valkyrie. Hod Be Careful Hod be careful Hod be wary Hod jump over The cassowary Where Would Ymir Go? If all Midgard were hoarfrost And all the whale-road snow If all the trolls were on patrol Then where would Ymir go?
