Contact the Web-Mistress at info@northvegr.org | Violet Trefusis (1894-1972), British novelist. Last words of letter March 1919 to author and critic Vita Sackville-West Perhaps
more than any other of our gods or goddesses, the Lady Freyja's lore was the target
of the christians for destruction. The goddess who embodied sexual love was dangerous
to them as they probably knew exactly how true the above quote could be. One particular practice of worship of the Lady that was especially targeted by them was the practice of writing love poems and songs to her. There is no telling how many of these poems and songs of worship were destroyed by them. In the hope that this may help to revive that form or worship in her honor, I offer these love poems and songs to her as a way of worship. It is my hope that other Northfolk will join me and submit a poem or song to the Lady as a way of worshiping her. If you would like to submit art, poetry, fiction, song etc. that honors the Lady, please send inquiries and submissions to info@northvegr.org. |
