The Grimm's Teutonic Mythology Translation Project
21 February 2002
The Midhnott sol Regintroth is nearing the completion of a long standing goal for our web site which is to have the complete 4 volumes of Grimm's Teutonic Mythology transcribed into text files for display at our site. Grimm's Teutonic Mythology is one of the greatest treasure troves of lore and folklore for the Northern Way that we have. There are however large parts of the text that remain un-translated. We are undertaking a project that will work to translate these parts of the text in to English. We feel this would be a great resource for the English speaking Northern Way community. What we hope to do is to organize an effort to translate these text with those who wish to contribute to the effort. We can't offer any payment other than the knowledge that you have done something that will benefit the Northern Way community at large and we, of course, plan to give full credit on our pages to anyone willing to help with this project. The languages needing translation are: Greek, Latin, Old High German, Middle German, French, Old French, Spanish and Old Norse. If you would be interested in working with us on this project in any fashion please contact us at info@northvegr.org . or for more information see the project page.

The Story of Siegfried
7 November 2001
Now up in the Northern European Studies section, are the first 8 Adventures from James Baldwin's "Heroes of the Olden Time: The Story of Siegfried." This is Baldwin’s admitted ‘retelling’ of the Eddas, weaving the stories of the gods with the later hero cycles, in an easy to read narrative. Anyone familiar with the Eddas will notice how he has melded and reshaped themes and characters and given them a common river to wend, in order to present an overview of the entire mythology, sacrificing accuracy for art. Keeping this in mind, it is still a valuable book, and a good way for adults new to the faith to get a feel for the material. Reading this along with your children is highly recommended, use it as a springboard for teaching the realities of the faith, and for sharing what you believe. Look for more adventures from this book coming soon!
