vökna (ađ), v. to become wet.
vökóttr, a.full of holes, of ice.
vökr (acc. -van), a. wet, moist (ţeira líkamir eru vökvir ok vátir).

völr (gen. valar, dat. veli; pl. velir, acc. völu), m. round stick, staff; cf. 'hjálm-, riđ-, vigvölr.'
völu-leiđi, n. sibyl's barrow.
völundr (-ar, -ar) m. master smith,great artist (Hrafn var v. at hagleik bćđi at tré ok at járni).
völva (gen. völu; pl. völur), f. prophetess, sibyl, wise woman, witch (fóru ţá um landit spákonur, er kallađar vóru völur).
vömb (gen. vambar), f. 'womb', belly, paunch; kýla vömbina, to fill the belly.
vömm. (gen. vammar), f. disgrace.
vöndla (ađ), v. to make up into a bundle (v. e-t upp).
vöndr (gen. vandar, dat. vendi; pl. vendir, acc. vöndu), m. (1) wand, switch, twig (sverđit beit eigi heldr en vendi berđi um); snúa vönd í hár e-m, to twist a wand in one's hair, preparatory to beheading a culprit; (2) stripe, in cloth (segl stafat vendi blám ok rauđum).
vondull, m. bundle of hay (tóku ţeir vöndul heys fyrir hvern hest).
vör (gen. varar, pl. varar), f. (1) a fenced-in landing-place (sigla ór vörum); (2) wake; (3) = vörr, m.
vörđ (pl. varđir), f. poet. woman.
vörđr (gen. varđar, dat. verđi; pl. verđir, acc. vörđu), m. (1) ward, warder (Heimdallr er v. gođa); hafa á sér vörđu, to have watches out (ţeir höfđu á, sér vörđu; Sverrir konungr hafđi fengit njósn af, hvar verđir ţeira vöru); (2) guard, watch; halda vörđ, to keep watch or guard; ganga á vörđ, to mount guard; vera á verđi, to be on guard; veita e-u vörđ, to watch, take care of.
vörn (gen. varnar, pl. varnir), f. (1) defence (mun hans v. uppi, međan landit er byggt); til varnar, for defence (ţeir höfđu engan liđskost til varnar) (2) in law, defence, opp. to ' sókn ' bjóđa til varna, to call on the defendant to begin his pleadings; fœra v. fram fyrir mál, to act for the defendant in a suit; (3) a point for the defence, exception; Ásgrími tókst svá til, at v. var í máli hans, that there was a flaw in his suit.
vörnuđr, m. warning (bjóđa vörnuđ); cf.' varnađr' (2).
vörpu-ligr, a. of stout, stately appearance (inn -ligsti mađr).
