Northvegr Foundation - About Us
Presently, Northvegr Foundation does not accept membership. However, we do accept volunteer work. A site such as this depends heavily on volunteer work in order to present the vast amount of material that we present. If you have skills that you think would be helpful, such as programming, web coding, PDF construction, language translation, etc, then we can use your help. All material is presented on the site free of charge to any user and your help makes it possible for us to do that. Northvegr Foundation's specific area of interest encompasses the span of time corresponding to the northern European Iron Age until the early Medieval Age, or from about the 8th century BCE to the 12th century CE. This area includes Scandinavia, Iceland, Wales, England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany, Russia and other nearby countries. Some of the projects that the Northvegr Foundation will be undertaking in the near future include, but are not limited to: 1. Translation of period texts into English, as well as more modern scholarly works into English. 2. The Northern Scholarship Project for transcribing and posting public domain texts pertaining to our stated area of emphasis as well as being the main group of people and pool of resources from which our Translation and Publication divisions shall be derived. 3. A Publication Division to bring more low-cost, quality publications of the sagas, eddas and other primary source texts, as well as secondary source texts and Northvegr's own books, pamphlets, and other educational materials. 4. The Northvegr Community Project will bring together various resources, which any group can use, in order to begin forming their own Heithinn oriented community. Advice on organization and state church incorporation, as well as moral support, is among the resources that will be provided by this project.
