A New Introduction to Old Norse
This is a three volume series published by the Viking Society for Northern Research. I have these books and they are excellent and I highly recommend them. Don't expect to get them any time soon though. You may have to wait months to get your order filled so order now and get ready to wait. It took over 3 months to get one of the books in this series. However, they are worth the wait.

An Introduction to Old Norse by E. V. Gordon

The old standard. Very hard to get through without prior experience or access to someone who knows the language better. It is still worth getting, but I suggest going through the courses at the Old Norse For beginners web site and getting A New Introduction To Old Norse first. It is out of print but you should be able to find easily find copies at Amazon.com UK's “z-shops” or at www.bookfinder.com. It is also available at the Oxford University Press site.
